When people hear the words “Sales marketing,” it automatically makes them think of everything under the sun except the fact that this is a business. And just as in any business, there are business rules that you’ve got to follow in order to not only help other people become successful, but to also help yourself do the same.
This is why you’ve got to understand how important the Program of Shassim … It is our company’s set of rules. We use the Shassim Program to get in front of people so that we can do the “people side” of Sales marketing. This is a people business and in order to do well in Sales - marketing you are going to have to deal with people.
The problem that so many Alternative Body Care International Network . (Shassim) distributors are having is that they are always trying to take the “people” out of the “people business.” As soon as they meet someone new, they just jump right in and start trying to talk about the opportunity and how this person should do it. They’ve just met the person and Yes … already they’re talking business, when instead they should be taking an interest in the other person and what he or she has to say.

This senseless approach is breaking the rules of the Shassim Program right off the bat. Because think for a moment … How can you be in a people business until you learn something about the person you’re talking to? When you start talking business right away, you’re hardly in a position to help someone make a decision about the opportunity because you haven’t connected with them at all. You haven’t identified their needs or wants, and you certainly don’t know what the individual wants to accomplish. As a result, you’re not going to get anywhere.
So when people tell me, “I’ve been doing the Shassim Program, but I haven’t gotten anyone involved,” I know why: They are not actually getting to the people. They are not taking the time to treat this like a people business. I was talking to someone the other day who wanted to know why he’s having trouble closing. He always gets people to the meetings and gives a great presentation — he’s personable and witty, and appears well-versed on whatever he’s talking about — however, as soon as he sits down with people one-on-one, it’s like he becomes a different person. He puts on his “business face”, as I like to call it, and he gets all serious. He just forgets that this is a people business. And when others sense from you that “it’s only business” — that you’re not really interested in what happens to them — they aren’t going to respond. Period.
Always remember … Be as honest with people as you would like them to be with you. Be as interested in people, and what they have to say, as you want them to be with you. Then as you start building your people business, and you recognize that your goal is to help others and treat them like you are genuinely concerned about their future, I guarantee that you’ll see a positive change in the responses you receive.
And after all, you should be concerned about their future … because your success is dependent on it!
